Quick answer
Shockwave therapy has been studied across several musculoskeletal conditions, most extensively plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, lateral elbow tendinopathy and calcific shoulder tendinopathy. Findings are mixed and vary by condition, device, treatment parameters, study quality and the rehabilitation delivered alongside it.
Why results differ between studies

How we talk about evidence
We avoid phrases such as “miracle cure”, “guaranteed results”, “permanent pain relief” or “proven for everyone”. Where the evidence is uncertain, we say so, and we will tell you when a different treatment pathway is likely to serve you better.
Reading the literature yourself
If you want to review the research, look for systematic reviews and randomised controlled trials for your specific condition, published in peer-reviewed journals and indexed on databases such as PubMed or the Cochrane Library. Ask your clinician to help interpret findings in the context of your own presentation.
